Iowa Forensics League
Why Join?
Membership in the Iowa Forensics League provides many benefits to you and your students. Each year during the fall, the Iowa Forensics League runs the Fall Conference Tournament. This tournament provides a great place for novices to experiment with many different debate and speech types. The IFL Fall Conference also provides a competitive arena for varsity speech students and debaters. In the Spring, the IFL hosts the State Tournament. This is where students from across Iowa gather to showcase their speaking and argumentation skills. It is at this tournament that the state champions, the coach of the year, and the student of the year are crowned.
Besides the benefit of the IFL's tournaments, being a member means that you and your school are committed to the future of forensics education in Iowa and the United States. Coaches from around the state of Iowa are leading the way in forensics education. Coaches regularly communicate with each other to discuss tournaments, topics, and other hot button issues.
When you join the IFL, you are joining a family that stretches from the Missouri to Mississippi Rivers. As one coach put it, "It's like Cheers. I can walk into a tournament and everyone knows my name."
How to Join?
The first step in joining is to make contact with a member of the Board of Directors. A member of the board can direct you to resources for your program as well as to add your contact information to the master list.
