Each Spring, hundreds of debaters and speech students from around the state converge in Iowa City for the state tournament. Over the course of three days, these students speak and debate their way to the top. All NFL speech events and debate events are offered. From the hundreds that start, only one student or team in each category will be crowned the champion. 



Also held during the State Tournament, the coaches luncheon and meeting allows for the current issues in speech and debate to be voiced and deliberated.

It is at the State Tournament that the Coach of the Year, Student of the Year, and Board Elections take place.
